Still going through some old images that I had never stitched together into panoramics. Here is one of Old Faithful erupting from Observation Point. I was up there a long time trying to get a chipmunk in the foreground looking towards the geysers but he/she was too interested in watching me instead.Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Colisseum Panoramic
Here is the Roman Colosseum interior itself. It was too bad I had the sun causing some flare problems but I was just happy the objects close to me stitched together okay in this panoramic. Close objects are normally where stitching software has problems when I'm not rotating the camera exactly around the optical center. This particular panoramic is eight stitched images in one row. This is one of the few panoramics where I shot vertically too.

Roman Forum From the Coliseum
This is a panoramic of the Roman Forum taken from the Coliseum in Rome. I was up in one of the higher levels in the Coliseum, but it's still pretty difficult to get much of the forum area from this direction. This particular panoramic is created from stitching six images from my Nikon D100.Another way to look at the Roman Forum is through the Ancient Rome layer in Google Earth. The number of buildings drawn in 3D is amazing.

Carlsbad Green Room Panoramic
I haven't posted anything from Carlsbad Caverns in a long time. Besides the long exposures and colorful lightning, another problem with photographing in caves is getting a sense of scale. In this panoramic, I got the trail and guardrail in the foreground on the bottom left. but it's still pretty hard to tell just how big the Green Room is in this picture. This particular panoramic is three stiched images with my Nikon D100.
